Lower Merion Township

The township was settled in 1682 by Welsh Quakers, and is home to the nation’s oldest continuously used place of worship, Merion Friends Meeting House, which was established in 1695.

Lower Merion is home to esteemed colleges, including Bryn Mawr College and Rosemont College. The township is served by the Lower Merion School District, which consistently ranks among the top ten school districts in Pennsylvania.

Settled in 1682 by Welsh Quakers granted permission under William Penn, the township enjoys and embraces a rich history. In fact, the Seville Theatre and Mill Creek Historic District are on the National Register of Historic Places!
What To Do In Lower Merion Township
The large township offers a wide array of activities, events, and things to do! For an afternoon or evening out and about, be sure to stop by Suburban Station in Ardmore. The trendy shopping village is home to Lululemon, Apple, Urban Outfitters, Trader Joe’s, and award-winning restaurants including Ardmore Station Café, Sweetgreen, and Parlor.

Looking for something a little more relaxing? Be sure to picnic in one of Lower Merion’s many serene parks, picnic areas, and public historic sites. Lower Merion also has an off-leash dog program for its many trails.

Lower Merion is also home to the renowned Philadelphia Country Club.
