Souderton Borough

The Borough of Souderton is notable for its award-winning school district, friendly neighborhoods, and relatively affordable home options! Souderton is conveniently located in eastern Montgomery County along the Bucks County border, and offers restaurants, parks, and trails. Souderton is home to approximately 6,600 people across 1.1 square miles.

Originally called Welshtown due to the heavy Welsh population, the borough derived its current name from Souder’s Lumberyard.

Souderton is well known among cyclists for hosting the Bucks County Classic (formerly known as the Univest Grand Prix). The professional bicycle road race has drawn some of the best racing cyclists from around the world, and is a highly anticipated event each September.

The borough is also home to a large historic district, recognizing the architectural and history of the area, and honoring its regional commercial influence and contributions.

Souderton is served the Souderton Area School District. Ranked #18 in the state by U.S. News and World Report out of 500+ schools, Souderton Area High School consistently achieves high scores on state proficiency tests and the college readiness index.

Souderton offers a small-town feel, with plenty of parks and family-friendly recreational activities. The borough is home to the Souderton Community Park, Holly’s Hill Park, Wile Avenue Playground, and Lawn Avenue Park. Souderton also offers a Boys & Girls Club, with low-cost activities and after-school care for children.

After a long day spent in the beautiful outdoors, be sure to stop by The Local for a delicious dinner. The Local is a farm-to-table restaurant set on the picturesque railroad tracks in Souderton.

Homes for sale in Souderton Borough tend to be priced a bit below the Montgomery County average, although there is a considerable range in prices and styles. The majority of homes for sale are single-family homes between $150,000 and $275,000. Many of these homes are modest ranch-style and Cape Cod homes on approximately one-third of an acre. While most are tastefully maintained and move-in ready, you may also find a low-priced “diamond in the rough” that can be brought back to life with just a little TLC.

Souderton is also home to an abundance of classic brick townhomes and twin homes, many of which offer plenty of character and charm! It’s not uncommon to find beautiful exposed beams, pretty fireplaces, or bay windows. New construction is also available in the borough, particularly with moderately priced townhomes.
