Nestled in the heart of Montgomery County, Upper Gwynedd Township is a popular township to live, work, dine and shop. The township is served by the award-winning North Penn School District, and is located just minutes from Lansdale, Montgomeryville, Blue Bell, Ambler and Plymouth Meeting. Upper Gwynedd is home to approximately 15,000 people over 8.1 square miles.
Upper Gwynedd Township Quick Facts
Upper Gwynedd derives its name from the Welsh word meaning “fair land”. The township became officially incorporated upon its separation from Lower Gwynedd in 1891.

The township includes the villages of West Point, Gwynedd Square, Gwynedd Heights, and Penbrook. The borough of North Wales is surrounded by Upper Gwynedd Township on all sides. Most of the homes within Upper Gwynedd use a Lansdale or North Wales mailing address.

The township is served by the North Penn School District, which is known for being one of the largest high schools in the state. Additionally, North Penn High School was recently named one of the top high schools in the country by Washington Post and Newsweek.

One of the largest employers in the region, Merck, has a campus within Upper Gwynedd Township.
What To Do In Upper Gwynedd Township
Upper Gwynedd offers an extensive park system, which includes the Parkside Place Complex. With one of the most exciting and large playgrounds in the county, Parkside Place is a popular (and free!) local spot for kids.

Restaurants in the township include the Sumney Tavern and Pizza Time Saloon.

Upper Gwynedd is located just five minutes from Montgomeryville, which features the Montgomery Mall and an abundance of delicious restaurants and entertainment options.
