West Chester Borough Quick Facts
Did you know that West Chester used to be called Turk’s Head? It’s true! The borough was originally named after a popular inn at the center of town.

The town enjoys a rich history, including an historic district in the downtown area. There are a number of other buildings in town that are named to the National Register of Historic Places, including the Buckwalter Building, the Sharples Homestead, and the Chester County Courthouse.

West Chester serves as the County Seat for Chester County.

The borough is served by West Chester School District, which has won a number of awards. The large district is home to three high schools.
What To Do In West Chester Borough
There is no shortage of things to do in lively West Chester! Restaurants, shops, galleries and museums line the streets of the downtown West Chester. We particularly love shopping at The Prana House (an all-organic apothecary), and dining at Spence 312 and Barnaby’s.

West Chester is also home to West Chester University, which is well known for their education program. Be sure to stop by the university to catch a basketball or football game or theater production!

Homes in West Chester tend to be priced right around the Chester County average, although there are a variety of homes for sale! The most popular home styles for sale are townhomes and single-family homes between $250,000 and $400,000. It’s also not uncommon to find a beautifully renovated Victorian home upwards of $700,000, or a townhome in need of a little TLC under $150,000.

West Chester offers a blend of newer homes and more traditional row homes. While the majority of homes are older and nicely updated, there are also a few new construction townhomes for sale too!
